Whisky Review – Ardbeg Auriverdes (Feis Ile 2014)

Last day of Feis Ile is always Ardbeg day. Last year Ardbeg released a festival bottling with a Brazilian theme due to the World Cup at the time.

Ardbeg Auriverdes (Feis Ile 2014) (49.9%, £100)

AuriverdesNose: Peat, pines resin burning in bonfire, all quite restrained for an Ardbeg whisky (No, Blasda isn’t Ardbeg 😉 ). Coffee, mocha and vanilla. Yes, the promised notes are here on the nose.

Palate: Peatier than the nose (more Ardbegy), vanilla, mocha, citrus (mainly lemon and grapefruits). Toward the end it’s full of tar and is ashy.

Finish: Long with ashes, peat, sweet vanilla and traces of coffee.

Thoughts: Good Ardbeg whisky, albeit not a very good one in terms of VFM (back when it was much more widely available). If you do like Ardbeg and can find it for less then the price mentioned above, grab one and enjoy it. Slainte!
