Glen Garioch 15 Year Old Sherry Cask Matured Travel Retail (53.7%, €99,99)
Nose: Cereals and sherry, lots of vanilla, also sherry spices of cinnamon and nutmeg. Dusty and limestone notes like in many other Glen Garioch whiskies, rubber, ginger, a touch of perfume but also unsavorable lactic note and cheese.
Palate: Dirty with a bit of sulphur, again a bit of rubber, nutmeg, sweet dried fruit, chocolate and late appearance of spices with prominent ginger and oranges.
Finish: Medium length with lingering spiciness, chocolate and a lot of sweet dried fruit.
Thoughts: It doesn’t exactly fits the dictionary definition of a sherry bomb. It feels lighter and fresher than what you would expect because of the fresh fruits and the extra vanilla which I know some others liked it a lot but for me it felt just too much and not in line with the other flavors.
